News from the Unit
Greetings:
Lately, a lot of people are saying they are not getting Call-out
messages sent from our list. In the wonderful world of Cyberspace that
means that for some of you your Internet Service Provider (ISP) like
AOL, Yahoo, SBC, ATT, etc. are most likely tagging our Call-Out messages
as SPAM and they are not making it to your InBox. As of February 2007
Symantec, the makers of Norton Anti-Virus, noted that 80% of all e-mail
sent across the Internet was SPAM or Junk. We can put a man on the moon
but we cannot put metal in the microwave, get all the e-mail we want and
eliminate all those unwanted Viagra e-mails.
Sadly, there is nothing I can do as our e-mail system is not the
problem. We have over 150 Bedouins subscribed to our list. The e-mail
system does not and cannot pick and choose which addresses it sends to.
It sends to all or none. The problem is that for whatever reasons these
Call-outs are not making to everyone.
Depending on your ISP handles SPAM and how often they update their
settings and/or whatever your favorite Send/Receive Mail program is
setup our call-out messages may either wind up in your Junk or SPAM
folders or deleted before you ever get to see them. Sadly, once again,
that is nothing I can control.
I can however suggest the following:
1.) 99.995% of the time if our call-out messages do not hit your InBox
they are in your SPAM/Junk folder. So, look carefully in your SPAM/Junk
folders daily to see if something from us is there. Sort by Subject and
check then sort by Sender and check again.
2.) If you are using a work e-mail to get our messages the firewall
and/or SPAM filters set-up by your company’s computer people might be
blocking our call-outs. So, have them add moslahbedouins.com to their
list of approved domains. This may not always be possible because of
company policies.
3.) Depending on your Send/Receive e-mail program you may have to the
same thing. Add moslahbedouins.com to its list of approved domains.
Depending on the program you may have to set up a filter.
4.) I know this sounds weird but it is not wise to automatically have
all the e-mail that your ISP’s SPAM filters tag as SPAM deleted before
you see it. Some ISP’s (AOL, Yahoo, SBC, ATT, etc.) allow that option
and if it is selected you may never see our messages and God knows what
other e-mails you may be looking for. Be sure your Send/Receive e-mail
program puts everything sent to you into a specific folder for you to
manually check. You will be surprised what your ISP tags as SPAM and
what it lets through to your InBox.
Once again, our e-mail system does not and cannot pick and choose who it
sends to. It sends to everyone. From the point it leaves our e-mail
server it is up to your ISP and then maybe to you to make sure it gets
to your InBox. Not a great thing to have to do in this day and time but
it is the truth.
Thanks,
